Blood Donor Center sundae party
The MGH Blood Donor Center will offer free ice cream sundaes July 3 and 7 to MGH employees who donate blood or platelets on those days. Sundaes will be served from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Employees who donate between 8:30 and 10 am are welcome to make their sundaes later in the day. Donors on those days also will receive a free t-shirt. The Blood Donor Center is located in the Gray Lobby. For more information, call (617) 726-8177.

CRP hazmat training
The Clinical Research Program (CRP) and the MGH Safety Office are sponsoring hazardous materials training for clinical research personnel. The training session will be offered July 9, from noon to 1:30 pm in the Wellman 101 Conference Room. Kim Boleza, an MGH biosafety officer, will provide the training. "Murder at Harvard"documentary
"Murder at Harvard," an hour-long documentary inspired by Simon Schama's book Dead Certainties: Unwarranted Speculations, will air July 14 at 9 pm on PBS, channel 2 in Boston. Based on the November 1849 murder of George Parkman, MD, by John Webster, a chemist at Harvard Medical College, the documentary interweaves reenactments with on-screen commentary from Schama. The murder took place in the Harvard Medical School Chemistry Lab, located near the present-day main entrance of the MGH. For more information, visit www.pbs.org/amex/murder.

HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) program will offer several seminars and support groups in July. Oncology pharmacists and nurses will offer "Chemotherapy: What You Should Know" July 2 and 9 at noon. Annabel Edwards, RN, will lead "Conversations about Cancer Pain" July 7 at 11 am. A "Parenting with Cancer" support group, led by child psychiatrists Paula Rauch, MD, and Nina Muriel, MD, and child psychologist Steve Durant, MD, will be held July 1 at 11 am. "Fathers Dealing with Cancer" support group will be held July 8 at 11 am, led by Durant. Eileen Joyce, MSW, an oncology social worker, will lead a caregivers support group July 3 at 1:30 pm. All events will be held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. Seminars and drop-in support groups are free, and no prior registration is required. Senior HealthWISE seminar
The MGH Senior HealthWISE education seminar program will offer "Enhancing Life's Options" July 14, from 4 to 5 pm in the East Garden Dining Room.
