GCRC awarded grant

The General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) recently was awarded a competitive National Institutes of Health renewal grant, which will allot $4 million per year to the institution for the next five years.

The money from the grant will allow expansion and renovation of the GCRC research facilities. In addition to the inpatient and outpatient facility located on White 13, the GCRC also will be adding new outpatient centers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a new bioimaging core facility at CNY.

The goal of the GCRC is to provide clinical research facilities for medical scientists who conduct patient-focused research. The investigations carried out at the GCRC can include studies of normal and abnormal human physiology and studies of the cause, prevention, progression, control and cure of diseases that afflict individuals of all ages.
