Partners Night at the Boston Pops

The third annual Partners Night at the Pops was held June 23, with physicians from the MGH, BWH, North Shore Medical Center (NSMC), Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH), Faulkner, Spaulding, McLean and Partners Community HealthCare attending. The physicians and their guests made up an audience of more than 2,000 for this special Boston Pops concert at Symphony Hall.

A highlight of the evening came when Partners' own musical talent —28 physicians from throughout the Partners system — joined Pops conductor Keith Lockhart on stage to sing a medley of Irish tunes. Three physician choruses — the Harmonious Healers, the Caregiving Crooners, and the Medical Maestros — serenaded the audience with "HARRIGAN," "My Wild Irish Rose" and "McNamara's Band."

An impromptu audience vote for best chorus gave all three groups a resounding "two thumbs up," and Lockhart declared the contest "too close to call." The evening's grand finale featured Partners Chairman Jack Connors, Jr. conducting the Pops orchestra in a rousing rendition of "Stars and Stripes Forever." The evening was made possible through the generosity of John Hancock and the advertising agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos.
