• U.S. News & World Report announces "Best Hospital" List
  As Hotline goes to press, the MGH has learned it again ranked third in U.S. News & World Report's annual national hospital "honor roll," with a number one ranking in the Psychiatry category for the fourth year in a row.

• From Haiti to the Hub – a child makes a remarkable recovery
  Ten-year-old Shodener Andre from Haiti wasn't expected to live past August because of his failing heart. But thanks to a group of volunteer physicians and his health care team at the MGH, Shodener went home a happy, healthier child this week.

• MGH study shows mitral valve prolapse not a stroke risk factor
  MGH researchers reported in the July 1 New England Journal of Medicine that mitral valve prolapse, a heart valve abnormality, is not associated with an increased risk of stroke among young people.

• MGHers enjoy good weather and good food
  MGHers took a break in the sun on the Bulfinch lawn at the MGH's annual Summer Picnic June 30.

• Endowment gift helps support family caregivers
  Dexter Burley, PhD, Cornelia Cremens, MPH, MD, and Barbara Moscowitz, LISCW, of the MGH Geriatric Medicine Unit, recently accepted a generous gift from the Acampora estate to endow the Acampora Family Caregiver Support Program.

• MGH-Spaulding Home Health now cares for East Boston patients
  As of July 1, patients served by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center's Home Care and Hospice Community Care Program are receiving home care through the MGH-Spaulding Home Health Agency.

• The MGH gets ready for the next JCAHO survey
  In preparation for the next visit from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the hospital underwent a "mock survey" June 24 and 25.

• New moms get breastfeeding tips from the MGH
  Mothers often have questions about breastfeeding their newborn babies. Now new moms can find answers in a breastfeeding journal being distributed at the MGH.
