MGH and BWH ranked among top hospitals in nation

As Hotline goes to press, the MGH has learned that it again ranked third in U.S. News & World Report's annual honor roll of "America's Best Hospitals." BWH also made the list, ranking 11th. The MGH scored 26 points in 14 specialties, with a number one ranking in the psychiatry category for the sixth year in a row, as well as a number one ranking in the kidney disease category.

McLean Hospital ranked fourth in psychiatry and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital ranked 12th in rehabilitation. Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, a sister institution of the MGH, ranked fourth in eye care. In addition, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute ranked fourth for cancer services.

Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was ranked first overall, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., ranked second.

The MGH and BWH have been among the leading institutions since the publication began conducting the survey in 1990. The honor roll will appear in the July 23 issue of U.S. News & World Report, which will be available on newsstands July 16.
