Elaine M. Hylek, MD, MPH, of MGH Internal Medicine, has been named one of 15 national recipients of this year's Robert Wood Johnson Generalist Physician Faculty Scholar Awards. The four-year grant is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their research pursuits while maintaining their academic commitment to teaching and patient care. Hylek intends to use the grant to study the effectiveness of anticoagulants in the geriatric population.

Hermes C. Grillo, MD, emeritus chief of General Thoracic Surgery at the MGH, recently was honored as a pioneer in cardiothoracic surgery by the French CardioThoracic Surgical Society in Paris. He was one of three general thoracic surgeons recognized.
