coordination
"Management Strategies for MGH Entry-Level Coordinators" will be offered Aug. 9.
Deidre Norris, RN, of the MGH Epilepsy Service, and Sandra Kogan, of Decisions Systems
Groups at BWH, combine years of MGH research experience with time management principles to
provide a solid foundation in research coordination at MGH. Registration is required. To

Marie C. Petrilli Oncology Nursing Award
Nominations now are being accepted for the first Marie C. Petrilli Oncology Nursing Award.
The purpose of this award is to recognize the high level of caring, compassion and
commitment reflected in the nursing care of oncology patients at the MGH. Any MGH nurse
who cares for patients with cancer is eligible for nomination. Two nurses will be selected
to receive this award. Award recipients will receive $1,000 each. Any employee, manager,
physician, patient or family member may nominate a candidate by completing a brief
nomination form. Forms are available on all inpatient units, the Gray and Cancer Center
information desks and in the Cox 1 Cancer Resource Room. Nomination forms can be sent to
Scott Ciesielksi, RN, at the Center for Clinical and Professional Development, Founders
644, or faxed to 4-3754. Nominations are due by Aug. 11.
Design and conduct of clinical trials course offered
The Education Unit of the Clinical Research Program, in collaboration with the MGH Cancer
Center, will offer "Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials," beginning Sept. 7, 5
to 6:15 pm, twice weekly for 14 sessions. The course is ideally suited to second-year
fellows and junior faculty pursuing clinical research. The course fee is $200 and includes
the textbook, Fundamentals of Clinical Trials. Enrollment is limited, and registration is
