MGH 2000 now
available The hospital magazine, MGH 2000,
which includes the hospital's 1999 annual report is now available. Copies may be
picked up at the information desks on the main campus, at the health centers and at other locations throughout the hospital.
Nitric oxide
inhalation may prevent dangerous infant lung condition MGH investigators found that
inhalation of nitric oxide gas may prevent the development of pulmonary vascular disease,
a dangerous condition that can affect about one of every 500 infants. The study
appeared in the July issue of Circulation Research.

Honduran relief
effort shows that dermatology services are needed When a team of MGHers went
to Honduras after the Hurricane Mitch disaster in the fall of 1998, the group assessed
which medical services were most needed in the area. Among the gaps in medical service was
the need for dermatological care for the Honduran people.
BWH challenges
the MGH The BWH Blood Donor Center has challenged the MGH to a friendly
competition to get the most employees to donate blood before and after
the Labor Day weekend.
Doherty shines in
national television interview Helen Doherty, RD, FMP,
director of MGH Nutrition and Food Services, the 1999 Massachusetts Restaurateur of the
Year award winner, was recently profiled in a piece for the "21st Century Lives"
segment of ABC World News Tonight.
