  • First-year medical students see surgery fist-hand
    Cardiac surgery is performed all the time at the MGH and at hospitals across the country. Every winter, special guests come to the MGH to observe first-hand how cardiac surgical patients are cared for by a team of anesthesiologists, nurses and surgeons.
  • Warm welcome for new minority house staff
    Each summer, James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH, hosts a reception to welcome incoming minority house staff. The event is a part of the hospital's commitment to support new physicians of color who begin their careers at the MGH.
  • MGH Dietetic internship – one of the oldest in the country
    Linda Cashman is one of dozen dietetic inters under guidance of registered dietitians and Food Service managers, as part of the MGH's 12-month dietetic internship. The internship, which started in 1909, is one of the oldest in the United States and has become one of the most competitive in the field of dietetics.
  • A commitment to teaching patients
    When a patient is diagnosed with a disease, he or she may have hundreds of questions. The Maxwell and Eleanor Blum Patient and Family Learning Center at the MGH is where many answers can be found.
