  • Orthopaedic heroes: MGH hosts WWII exhibit
    The MGH has become the temporary home of a nationwide traveling exhibit that honors the men and women who dedicated their lives to orthopaedic surgery during Word War II.
  • Strategic planning process moves forward: Task forces launched
    Since the MGH embarked on an intensive strategic planning effort several months ago to determine the future direction of its clinical programs, seven task forces have been launched to focus on key decision-making areas. The task forces will work during the next several months to make recommendations regarding such issues as managing the growth of the hospital, improving operational efficiency, enhancing quality and patient safety and addressing issues related to the quality of life for employees and staff.
  • Ausiello named to Academy of Arts and Sciences
    Dennis Ausiello, MD, physician-in-chief of the MGH, recently was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Ausiello was among the 187 fellows and 29 foreign honorary members recognized for their contributions to sciences, scholarship, public affairs and the arts.
  • A resource for caregivers: New Delineation of Privileges website
    A new internal-only website has been created to provide easy access to information regarding the appointments and clinical privileges of MGH and Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) medical staff. The site serves as a resource for nurses and other caregivers to confirm the identity and patient care privileges of physicians.
  • Mass Electric makes donation
    Massachusetts Electric presented the MGH with a generous gift July 29, when it donated $15,000 to the MGH Sumner Redstone Burn Center. The gift was in honor of three Mass Electric employees who were burned on the job and treated at the MGH.
  • JCAHO tip of the week
    Surveyors from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will be visiting the MGH Sept. 15 through 19. In preparation for the survey, Hotline will be featuring a tip of the week. This week's topic is performance evaluations.
