  • The welcome mat is out: MGH Charlestown completes renovations
    As patients and visitors enter the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center, they now are greeted by a modernized environment that is warm and inviting. The health center recently completed a major renovation project that has revitalized the interior structure of the historic Charlestown building.
  • Safety for seniors
    Seniors from the local community gathered at the MGH Aug. 11 for some important lessons in safety at the Senior HealthWISE seminar "Safety in a Changing World."
  • MGH Multicultural Affairs Office grooms future leaders
    The MGH Multicultural Affairs Office (MAO) is a valuable resource for minority physicians,
    residents, medical students and researchers. The office works to facilitate and promote the career advancement of underrepresented minorities at the MGH. As one of the many resources available to employees, the MAO developed a series of seminars for residents and fellows that offers guidance for advancement in their careers.

  • Patel receives top honor
    A member of the MGH Orthoaedic staff, Dinesh Patel, MD, chief of MGH Arthoscopic Surgery, recently received the 2003 John Clark Leadership Award one of the highest awards of the Federation of State Medical Boards. This is the first time a physician from Massachusetts has received the honor.
  • Step up to the plate to donate
    The Red Sox/Yankees rivalry may be more famous, but beginning Aug. 25 a new and friendlier rivalry will begin among area hospitals to recruit the most employees to donate blood. All MGHers are invited to team up for a friendly competition that will match the "Boston Red Cells" team which includes the MGH, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Shriners Burns Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital against the "Green Monsters" team which includes BWH and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Partners employee donors may choose to participate on either team.
  • JCAHO tip of the week
    Surveyors from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will be visiting the MGH Sept. 15 through 19. In preparation for the survey, Hotline will be featuring a tip of the week. This week's tip is about infection control.
