JCAHO tip of the week

Surveyors from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will be visiting the MGH Sept. 15 through 19. In preparation for the survey, Hotline will be featuring a tip of the week. The tip will contain information that all MGHers should know for the survey. Infection control

• Any employee can consult the Infection Control Unit regarding potential infection control problem.
• Infection control standards can be found in the Infection Control Manual and the website at http://phsweb3/icu
• A hospitalwide program is in place to reduce the number of hospital-acquired infections.
• All patient care equipment should be appropriately cleaned and disinfected.
• Refrigerated items should be labeled properly.
• Soiled materials must always be covered when being transported to the utility room.
• Only cleaning/disinfectant solutions may be stored under a sink.
