  • Pizza, pancakes and a pint: Employee blood donors celebrated
    The MGH Blood Donor Center is gearing up for the kickoff of MGH Employee Appreciation
    Weeks, Aug. 19 through Sept. 6. The three-week long series of events is an opportunity for the Blood Donor Center to thank MGH employees for their ongoing dedication to the blood donation program. Employee donors are especially needed during summer months when blood supplies are at their lowest.
  • MGH offers help and hope to children with epilepsy
    About 2 million children in the United States suffer from epilepsy, making it the most common neurological problem for children under the age of 18. Epilepsy, which often begins in childhood, is characterized by chronic and repeated seizures. It can have varying levels of severity, leaving some patients with debilitating handicaps.
  • Timilty students show their summer stuff
    Students from the James P. Timilty Middle School had the opportunity to strut their
    stuff Aug. 8 when they took part in the MGH/Timilty Partnership SummerWorks Showcase. The showcase highlighted the skills and lessons Timilty students learned during a seven-week summer internship program at the hospital.
  • Neurology hosts Parkinson's disease investigators
    Partners and MGH Neurology recently hosted the annual meeting for the Morris K. Udall Centers of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research. Anne B.Young, MD, PhD, chief of MGH Neurology and director of the MGH Center for Aging, Genetics and neurodegeneration, gave opening remarks for the three-day annual meeting, which brought together 125 investigators from around the country to discuss the latest developments in Parkinson's disease research.
  • Building a center of healing inside and out
    For months now as onlookers pass by the site of the former Charles Street Jail, they have seen the steel beams, mounds of debris and slabs of concrete that will be transformed into the new Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care when it is completed in 2004. What most people don't see is the behind-the-scenes planning for what the interior of the center will become.
  • Self serve: Employees now can access their own information
    The MGH Human Resources Department would like to remind employees that their personal
    information is now available at their fingertips. The PeopleSoft Human Resources (HR) Employee Self Service (ESS) program has been helping employees access and change personal information since it was first introduced in June.
