Nominations for PCS award
The Anthony Kirvilaitis Jr. Partnership in Caring Award nomination deadline is Aug. 29. Colleagues may nominate any MGH nonclinician who is part of the Patient Care Services (PCS) staff — including operations associates, operating room assistants and patient care service coordinators. Nomination forms are located on each patient care unit, at the Gray information desk, in the Emergency Department, on Bigelow 10 and in the Operating Room nursing office. Health disparities seminar
The MGH Patient Care Services Diversity Steering Committee will host "Health Disparities: A Minority Nurse and Health Professions Perspective" Sept. 5, from 8 am to noon in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Join nurses, therapists and social workers from the Alaska/Native American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic and Philippine Nurses Association for a minority-based perspective on health disparities. MGH Spanish for Health Care class registration
Registration for fall classes of Spanish for Health Care, sponsored by MGH Training
and Workforce Development, will be held Sept. 10, 11 and 12. Registration at MGH Chelsea will be Sept. 10, from 3:30 to 5 pm in the third floor conference room. Registration at the main campus will be Sept. 11 and 12, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm in the lobby of the East Garden Room. The course fee is $50 for a 10-week course and must be paid by check or money order at registration. Run of Hope
The Four Seasons Hotel Boston is holding its annual Run of Hope, which will benefit pediatric cancer research at the MGH and the Terry Fox Foundation of Canada. This 5k fun run will take place Sept. 27 adjacent to the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade. Registration begins at 8 am with the run starting at 10 am. Families are encouraged to participate. Registration fees are $20 for adults, $10 for children and $40 for families. Following the run will be refreshments, games for the kids and a
