Silber memorial golf tournament hits home

Golf season took on new meaning July 18 with the fourth annual Brian D. Silber Memorial Golf Tournament, which has become one of the top-netting charity golf events in the state, raising a total of $100,000. The tournament supports the Spine Tumor Clinic at the MGH and honors the memory of Brian Silber, who died of a rare spine tumor at the age of 28.

Chris Collins, a childhood friend of Silber and a sports anchor for New England Cable News, served as emcee for the post-tournament dinner, held at the Hilltop Steak House in Saugus, Mass.
