In General Jay Fishman, MD, of MGH Infectious Diseases, recently was named as president-elect of the American Society of Transplantation for 2003-2004. Fishman is the first infectious disease specialist to lead the society. Janet Hall, MD, of the MGH Reproductive Endocrinology Unit, recently was elected as a vice president for the Endocrine Society Council for the 2003-2004 term. Leonard Kaban, MD, DMD, chief of MGH Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, recently won the Harvard Medical School (HMS) Dean's Award for Leadership in the Advancement of Women Faculty. This award recognizes Harvard faculty members who are committed to the recruitment, retention and advancement of women at HMS. John T. Potts, MD, director of Research, recently received the William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award. Ernesto Gonzalez, MD, of MGH Dermatology, received the A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award. Both awards were presented at Harvard Medical School's Excellence in Mentoring Awards ceremony. Andrew Warshaw, MD, MGH surgeon-in-chief, has been awarded the Founder's Medal by the Society for Surgery of Alimentary Tract. |
