Worklife seminars
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will present a Work/Life seminar about "Achieving Balance," Sept. 14, noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. The speaker will be Allison Lilly, LICSW, CEAP, of the EAP. This seminar will help participants identify strategies for prioritizing responsibilities and satisfying various roles at home and at work. MGPO quarterly meeting
All physicians and staff are invited to attend the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization quarterly meeting, Sept. 13, 5 to 6:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 724-9080

CIMIT forum resumes
The Center for Innovative Minimally Invasive Therapy (CIMIT) will resume its forum series Sept. 12, from 2 to 4 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Each month this fall, CIMIT will review the accomplishments and goals of its programs. The first session will discuss "Acute Stroke: New Directions in Treatment." Speakers will include Walter J. Koroshetz, MD, and Lee H. Schwamm, MD, of MGH Neurology; and David A. Boas, PhD, and Gilberto Gonzalez, MD, PhD, of MGH Radiology. Pri-Med East 2000 conference
The sixth annual Pri-Med East conference will be held Sept. 15 through 17 at the Hynes Convention Center. Physicians may earn up to 16 hours of Category 1 AMA credit and may attend one or all three days of the conference. For more information or to register, call 977-4PRI-MED or visit www.primed.org 

HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients/Families through Education and Support) program will offer "Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant: A Discussion," facilitated by Cathleen Poliquin, NP, MSN, of the MGH Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Sept. 19. "Ovarian Cancer: The Male Perspective: A Discussion for Husbands and Partners," facilitated by John Magnan, will be offered Sept. 21. Heart walk
The MGH will participate in the annual Heart Walk for the American Heart Association, Sept. 23 at 10 am. Participants may walk 1-, 3- or 6.2-mile (10K) routes along the Charles River. Registration begins at 9 am at Lederman Field on the Esplanade. There will be several teams of 10 walkers each, and the event is open to all. For more information, call David Read at 724-0361.

Bowditch Prize reminder
Nominations for the Nathaniel Bowditch Prize are due by Sept. 30. The $5,000 prize will be given to a person – clinician or nonclinician – who has made a significant contribution to improving quality of care at the hospital while reducing the cost of such care. Nomination forms are available in the Main Lobby, the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, the Bigelow 10 nursing office and the MGPO office on Bulfinch 2. All nominations should be submitted to Andrew Warshaw, MD, chairman of the Bowditch Prize Selection Committee, White 506. For more information, call 726-8254.

Academic leadership skills lecture
The HMS Joint Committee on the Status of Women will sponsor a lecture about "Academic Leadership Skills for the 21st Century," Sept. 14, from 4 to 6 pm at the MEC Amphitheater, 260 Longwood Ave. Anne Young, MD, PhD, chief of MGH Neurology, will be among the speakers, who were chosen for their outstanding leadership skills and strong commitment to supporting the advancement of women. An informal reception will follow.
