  • New chief of Pediatric Surgery selected
    Effective Oct. 1, Joseph P. "Jay" Vacanti, MD, will become the new chief of Pediatric Surgery at the MGH, as well as surgeon-in-chief for MassGeneral Hospital for Children. He will succeed Patricia Donahoe, MD, who has served as chief of Pediatric Surgery for the past 12 years.
  • JCAHO surveyors put MGHers through their paces
    Surveyors from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) survey team traveled the hallways of the MGH this week, inspecting inpatient and outpatient areas, meeting with hospital administrators and asking MGH employees about hospital policies and procedures.
  • Child-friendly Pediatric Radiology waiting area opened
    MassGeneral Hospital for Children patients who are having a radiographic exam now have a waiting room tailored to their needs. MGH Radiology and MassGeneral Hospital for Children collaborated to create the new Pediatric Radiology waiting room on Ellison 2, a "pedi-friendly" environment that will focus on the needs of young patients.
  • MGH Revere opens new unit
    MGH Revere HealthCare Center celebrated the grand opening of its new Physical and Occupation Therapy Unit Sept. 8.
  • A tragic day remembered
    A single red rose, candle-lit prayer and inspirational music quietly marked the second anniversary of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Run of Hope
    Roberta "Bobbi" Gibb, the first woman ever to run the legendary Boston Marathon, is joining forces with the MGH and Four Seasons Hotel Boston to launch the Four Seasons "Run of Hope," a 5k run along the Charles River.
