Weight management class
MGH Nutrition Services is offering a 10-week weight management class "Winning
at the Losing Game" beginning Sept. 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and
meeting every Tuesday. The cost of the class is $240 for MGH employees,

Ethics forum
The MGH Ethics Task Force and the Schwartz
Center are sponsoring "Complicated End-of-Life Decision Making,"
Sept. 26, from noon to 1 pm, in Walcott 2. Lunch will be provided at 11:45

Senior HealthWISE seminar
The MGH
Senior HealthWISE education seminar program will offer "Managing
Your Medication: The Cost and Care" Sept. 29, from 4 to 5 pm in the
East Garden Dining Room. Representatives from MGH Pharmacy will discuss
taking medications safely and the cost of medications. For more information,

Macaluso Awards
Nominations now are being accepted for the Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN,
Expertise in Clinical Practice Award. The award recognizes direct care
providers in MGH Patient
Care Services who exemplify the expert caregiving embodied by the
late Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN. Nomination forms may be picked up in all
patient care areas and at the Gray Lobby information desk. All nominations

Safety fair
MGH Police and Security,
Outside Services and Photography
will sponsor the annual crime prevention and safety fair Sept. 25, from
11 am to 3 pm under the Bulfinch tent. The focus will be "Protecting
You in This Changing World" with a variety of demonstrations, displays
and tables featuring important literature on safety topics. All entries
from the sixth annual photo contest will be on display. Additionally,
staff from the MGH Safety Department, Employee Assistance Program, HAVEN
(Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) program and MassGeneral
Hospital for Children will be on hand to discuss their programs. Free
raffle drawings will take place.
Alcoholism education series
The Blum Patient
and Family Learning Center, located in the Main Corridor, will host
free education seminars about alcoholism every Thursday at 5:30 pm. Topics
will include a discussion about the disease, the effects on children,
intervention, treatment and recovery. No registration is needed. For more
