MGHers are reminded to wear their ID badges while on duty at the hospital. Not only is wearing ID badges a hospital policy, but it is important for a variety of reasons:

• Patients have a right to know who their caregivers are and the nature of their position (i.e. whether they are doctors, nurses, technicians, support staff, etc.).

• Visitors in the hospital who need to ask questions should be able to identify employees for inquiries.

• The Police and Security Department needs to know for safety reasons.
