Deadline extended for PIE Awards
The deadline for nominations for the Partners in Excellence (PIE) Awards has been extended to Oct. 2. Ether Day celebration
Ether Day will be celebrated at the MGH this year Oct.10, from 2 to 3:30 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. During this special celebration, employees will be recognized for their length of service. An invitation-only dinner for MGHers who have served at the hospital for 20 years or more will be held Oct. 16 at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. Women's wellness fair
The MGH Women's Health Coordinating Council will host the third annual women's wellness fair "Women's Health Across the Lifespan" Oct. 2, from 10 am to 2 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. Educational material about general health and wellness, menopause, cancer prevention, caring for aging parents, exercise and fertility will be available. Senior HealthWISE fall lecture series
The MGH Senior HealthWISE program will begin its fall lecture series with "Seniors Get Moving" Oct. 7, from 11 am to noon in the Walcott Conference Room. Kate Brill-Daley, Sandra Conner and Dan Murphy of the Clubs at Charles River Park, will discuss how seniors can get stronger, live longer, and how much and how often they should exercise. Physical therapy month
MGH Physical Therapy is planning several staff and community education activities to celebrate Physical Therapy Month in October. This year's theme is "Exercise Your Options." Information tables will be at the women's health fair Oct. 2, from 10 am to 2 pm, and will focus on osteoporosis and posture. Hallway exhibits will be displayed Oct. 15 to 29, from 10 am to 2 pm.

Nathaniel Bowditch Prize nominations
Nominations now are being accepted for the 2003 Nathaniel Bowditch Prize. The $5,000 award will be presented to an MGH employee who has helped improve the quality of care while reducing the cost of such care. All nominations should be
submitted by Oct. 15 to Andrew Warshaw, MD, chairman of the Bowditch Prize Selection Committee, White 506. For more information, call (617) 726-8254.

Case management week
The Case Management Department will celebrate Case Management Week Oct. 5 to 11. Display tables will be available in the Main Corridor throughout the week. The second annual Case Management Change Show will be held Oct. 9 at 3:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. On Oct. 30, from noon to 1 pm, an educational program "Case Management: What It Is and What It Is Not" will be held in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. ProTech program recruitment
The ProTech program at the MGH is recruiting departments and staff to share their job experience by hosting small groups of students from East Boston High School Oct. 29. The program also is recruiting volunteers to give tours, serve as guest speakers, participate in MGH department rotations and provide internship opportunities.
