• Ether Day 2000 marks milestone for MGHers
  The MGH honors employees for dedication, commitment and length of service on the anniversary of the first use of ether in surgery.

• Advances: Treatment protects mouse ovaries from radiation therapy
  A team of scientists from the MGH and other research centers has found a molecule that, in animal studies, has blocked the destruction of ovarian egg cells by radiation therapy.

• Beating the blues: MGH Psychiatry participates in National Depression Screening Day
  On Oct. 5, thousands of people across the country dialed a hotline phone number to connect them to local resources for help with clinical depression. The MGH was one of those resources.

• Benefits open enrollment
  Open enrollment will be held at the MGH Oct. 23 through Nov. 6 with changes effective Jan. 1, 2001.

• A return to Fruit Street: MGH house staff reunion
  Nearly 150 former and current medical house staff came to Boston for a reunion Oct. 6 through 8. This year's theme was "Careers in Medicine in the New Millennium."

• MGH hosts special dinner to honor hospital donors
  The MGH hosted a donor appreciation dinner Sept. 28 to celebrate the generosity of special friends who support the hospital.

• Unlocking the marketing mystery
  The MGH Department of Radiology recently hosted its third leadership seminar, that featured guest speaker Jack Connors, Jr., founding partner, chairman and chief executive officer of Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Inc., a marketing communications company with headquarters in Boston.
