Stewart Memorial scholarships presented

Steven Mikula, a construction manager in the MGH Planning and Construction Office, and Denis Garriepy of Walsh Brothers Construction Co., were the recent recipients of the fifth annual Clifford D. StewardMemorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was named in memory of clifford Douglas Stewart III who spent 20 years working at the MGH for Walsh Brothers Construction co. until he died at the age of 47 in 1999. The shcolarship allows employees of the MGH, Walsh Brothers or other contractors working at the MGH to further their education in the contracting industry by taking college or construction trade courses.

Mikula and Garriepy were recognized for their dedication and commitment to excellence as well as their thirst for knowledge, attributes they shared with Stewart. The scholarships were presented Oct. 27 at a breakfast reception in the East Garden Dining Room.
