An update on the progress of MassGeneral Hospital for Children

As announced Sept. 17, MassGeneral Hospital for Children is the new identity of MGH Pediatrics. Since this announcement was made, planning for the rollout has intensified.

The rollout committee, which is chaired by John D'Angelo of MassGeneral Hospital for Children administration, has identified contacts in nearly every department of the hospital to serve as "pediatric champions." These representatives will receive orientation packets to share with their departments and will serve as the liaison111999MGHChildren.jpg (12133 bytes) between the committee and each department. The packets describe the mission and guiding principles of the MassGeneral Hospital for Children as well as suggestions for how to make young patients and their families feel comfortable while they receive care. The packets also explain what it means to be a hospital within a hospital and what defines family-centered care for each employee and area serving children at the MGH.

In addition, new signs will be put up in the major lobbies and in all areas that provide care to children. There will be a new directory in the Main Lobby highlighting the sites where care is delivered to MassGeneral Hospital for Children patients. Maps also will be available for visitors to take. New signage should be in place by the beginning of January.

All MGHers are invited to a hospitalwide rollout party Jan 13, in the WACC Cafeteria and Lobby. An advertising/informational campaign, including radio, print and Internet, is scheduled to run in conjunction with the rollout. Watch future issues of Hotline for more details.
