Coding scholarship
program More than 45,000 new coding specialists will be needed in the United States by the year 2005. To help meet this need, MGH Human Resources, MGH and Partners Health Information Services (HIS) and Partners Corporate Training will sponsor full scholarships for the Northeastern Medical/Clinical Coding Certificate Program. The program, funded by the US Department of Labor, will enable 15 employees at MGH, BWH and Partners to advance to more skilled positions. "This is a great chance for hospital employees to advance their careers. Those completing the program can earn up to 30 credits toward a college degree," says Jeff Davis, senior vice president for Human Resources. Whether new to coding training, or already enrolled in courses, employees can apply for scholarships to complete at Northeastern. Karen Grant, corporate director of HIS for Partners, adds that "Partners and MGH/HIS are excited to have helped create this opportunity. The scholarships support Partners' goals of quality patient care supported by quality information services." Applications are available from Partners Corporate Training, 185 Charles River Plaza, second floor, and are due Dec. 10. Selections will be announced by Jan. 31. For more information, send an e-mail to Kenya Gilmore at kgilmore@partners.org or call Partners Corporate Training at 6-2230. |
