The MGH General Store and Flower Shop will hold
"employee appreciation" holiday sales, Dec. 11, 6 to 10 pm; Dec. 14, 10 pm to
12:30 am; and Dec. 16, 8:30 am to 7:30 pm and 10 pm to 12:30 am. Employees will receive a
20 percent discount on all purchases. Preferred customers will receive a 30 percent
discount.
MGPO quarterly
meeting
All Massachusetts General Physicians Organization
(MGPO) physicians and employees are invited to the MGPO quarterly meeting and fifth
anniversary celebration, Dec. 8, 5 to 7 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Peter Slavin, MD,
CEO of the MGPO, will present, "Lessons Learned from St. Louis." A cocktail
reception will be held following the presentation.
Women's health grand
rounds
Valerie Stone, MD, MPH, of Brown University School
of Medicine and director of the Hope Center for HIV Care at Memorial Hospital of Rhode
Island, will present "HIV/AIDS in Women of Color," Dec. 1, 5:30 pm, in the
O'Keeffe Auditorium. This presentation is co-sponsored by Harvard Medical School's Center
of Excellence in Women's Health, the MGH, BWH, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and
Harvard Medical School.
Services of
remembrance and healing
Services of remembrance and healing for those
affected by domestic violence will be held Dec. 1, 4:45 to 5:30 pm, followed by coffee and
refreshments, and Dec. 3, 12:15 to 12:45 pm, followed by lunch. Services will be held in
the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. This service is sponsored by the Chaplaincy, the Employee
Assistance Program, HAVEN at MGH, Police and Security and the Domestic Violence Working

electronic bulletin board
MGH and Partners employees can post items for sale
or rent or services available on a new electronic bulletin board. Postings should be
submitted to Amy Vacchina, Employee Activities coordinator, by sending e-mail to AVacchina@partners.org. Human Resources
will review postings and reserves the right to decline or revise submissions. To access
the folder for viewing of postings, open the following folders in Outlook: Public Folders,
All Public Folders, Partners, Corporate Departments, Human Resources and Bulletin Board.

MGH Aerobics Program
The MGH Aerobics Program offers employees an
opportunity to burn excess stress and calories. Certified instructors lead the workouts,
which include aerobics, muscle toning and cool-down stretching. Classes, which run for
approximately an hour, take place Monday through Friday at noon, and Monday through
Thursday at 5:15 pm. Lockers and showers are available. Registration is not required and
each class costs $4. Schedules with class descriptions are available in the aerobics room
at Ruth Sleeper Hall or in the Office of Employee Health on Clinics 3.
Clinical research
coordinator seminar series
The Clinical Research Program will host an open
forum for research nurses and coordinators, Dec. 8, noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference
Room. Discussion will focus on the clinical research coordinator surveys that were
distributed this year, the ACRP prep course (which will be offered at the MGH in
February), the ACRP certification, and a CRC Orientation Program. There will be several
copies of the "Clinical Research Coordinator Handbook" available. Lunch will be

Deadline extended for
United Way campaign
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the deadline
for contributions to the United Way campaign has been extended to Dec. 3. Employee pledge
cards may be mailed to Kathy Conners of Radiology, ACC 219C, or deposited into drop-off
boxes located at information desks in the Main Lobby, WACC Lobby and CNY Building 149,
Payroll in Clinics 1 and at each of the MGH health centers. For more information, call

Memorial services
A memorial service will be held Dec. 1 at 1 pm in
the MGH Chapel for Nancy Seaborn, a former MGH Health Information Services coder, who died
Oct. 4. A memorial service also will be held Dec. 2 at 2 pm in the MGH Chapel for Partners
employee Billy Aylward, who died Oct. 26. |
