Partners in Excellence
MGHers are invited to join James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH; Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners; and Jeff Davis, MGH senior vice president for Human Resources, in congratulating individual and team recipients of the Partners in Excellence Awards, Dec. 8, at 4 pm in the WACC Lobby.

MGH General Store holiday sales for employees
The MGH General Store will host its annual holiday sales for MGH employees Dec. 7, 10 pm to 12:30 am; Dec. 9, 6:30 to 9 pm; Dec. 14, all day; and Dec. 15, 10 pm to midnight. All items are 20 percent off or 30 percent off with a preferred customer card during sale times.

Clinical Research Program Seminar Series
The Clinical Research Program (CRP) is sponsoring a seminar "Billing Patient Charges in Research – Getting it Right" Dec. 13, Wellman Conference Room, 11:45 am to 1 pm. Lynne Afrow, JD, of Partners Corporate Compliance, will discuss the process of requesting research tests and how to respond when a patient or a third-party payor is incorrectly charged. Reservations must be made by calling the CRP reservation line at 726-1669. Lunch will be served. This lecture qualifies for 1.2 CEUs for registered nurses.

Blood donor gifts to MGH pediatric patients
The MGH Blood Donor Center will be giving a "puppy pal" to an MGH pediatric patient for each donor who gives blood during the holiday season. Each donor will be given a gift tag to write a note to the patient, and all of the beanie baby puppies will be delivered to the pediatric units. To make an appointment, call 726-8171.

HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) program will offer "Planning Your Holiday Meal when Cancer's in the Family," Dec. 5, noon to 1 pm, facilitated by Jill Oravitz, RD. "Are You Thinking About Complementary Therapies? Exploring Reiki," will be offered Dec. 6, 1 to 2 pm, facilitated by Maureen Stimpson, certified yoga instructor. A drop-in yoga class will be offered Dec. 7, noon to 1 pm. All seminars are held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. Seminars are free, and no registration is required. Domestic violence remembrance service
A special service of remembrance and healing for those affected by domestic violence will be held Dec. 8, 12:15 pm, in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. The service is sponsored by the MGH Domestic Violence Working Group, the Chaplaincy, Social Services, HAVEN, the Employee Assistance Program, Nutrition and Food Services and Police and Security. A light lunch will be offered after the service. For more information, call HAVEN at 724-0054.

Roman Catholic Holy Day of Obligation
An additional Mass has been scheduled in the MGH Chapel, located on Ellison 1, Dec. 8 at 11 am for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and a Roman Catholic Holy Day of Obligation. The regularly scheduled 4 pm Mass will continue as planned.

Hotline correction
In the Nov. 17 and 24 issue of the MGH Hotline, leadership of the new Office of Quality and Safety was erroneously listed. The office will be led jointly by Joan Fitzmaurice, RN, PhD, and Cy Hopkins, MD. Liz Mort, MD, will be an associate director of the office.
