MGH domestic violence advocates honored

Advocates from the hospital's HAVEN (Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) program were honored Nov. 6 by Partners HealthCare and their MGH colleagues for their efforts to improve the health of survivors of domestic violence. TheHAVEN program is one of three hospital-based domestic violence advocacy programs funded through the MGH and Partners Community Benefit Programs. Marisol Coreas, Alexandra Detjens, Sandra Elien, Donna Kausek, Patti Rosell and Niza Troncoso were among 19 advocates honored for their work on behalf of MGH patients and employees at the main campus and at the MGH Chelsea, Revere and Charlestown health centers.

Guest speaker Rev. Gloria White-Hammond, MD - a pediatrician at South End Community Health Center and co-pastor of Bethel AME Church in Boston - provided a moving tribute to the advocates and spoke of their significant contributions toward saving lives and advocating for women and children affected by domestic violence.
