  • MGH/CNY Holiday parties
    MGH employees and volunteers are invited to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with refeshments, music and holiday cheer during the MGH Holiday Parties, hosted by Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH.
  • MGH helps feed families for Thanksgiving
    The Breast Cancer Team from the Gillette Center for Women's Cancers at the MGH helped make Thanksgiving a reality for breast cancer patients who, due to illness or treatment, were unable to afford, shop for and prepare their family feast.
  • MGH domestic violence advocates honored
    Advocates from the hospital's HAVEN (Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) program were honored Nov. 6 by Partners HealthCare and their MGH colleagues for their efforts to improve the health of survivors of domestic violence.
  • History is alive and well at the MGH
    Making medical milestones has long been a tradition at the MGH. Most recently, the hospital was recognized by an outside organization for its role in the history of the health care world. Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, accepted the History Maker Award for Health Care Innovation on behalf of the MGH at a special ceremony held Nov. 12 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston.
  • A young patient remembers the heart of giving
    Evelyn Malkin, LICSW, of MGH Social Services, received a letter this past summer from Carina Comer, a former patient of MassGeneral Hospital for Children, that touched her heart. Comer, who is 11 years old and received radiation treatments at the MGH in 2000, wrote that she wanted to send some gifts to current patients.
  • Continuing a legacy: Juan M. Taveras Visiting Fellow named
    James Thrall, MD, chief of MGH Radiology, and his colleagues recently welcomed Rosa Alvarez, MD, as the first Juan M. Taveras Visiting Fellow at the MGH. The fellowship program was named in honor of the late Juan M. Taveras, MD, who was the former chair of MGH Radiology.
  • Filene's gives MGH bear hug
    In the spirit of the holiday season, Filene's Department
    store a supporter of the MGH chose MassGeneral Hospital for Children as one of the beneficiaries of its "Make Your Wishes Come True" holiday program.
