Holiday decorating with a twist:
MGH Cancer Center hat trees

Colorful holiday trees sparkled throughout the MGH Cancer Center Nov. 27, featuring an unusual array of ornaments. Each tree was decorated with an assortment of homemade hats, designed for women battling cancer who have experienced related hair loss.

Friends Fighting Breast Cancer and the retail chain Fabric Place collected more than 1,200 hats crafted by members of the Boston community. For each hat contributed, Fabric Place donated $5 to Friends Fighting Breast Cancer. The two organizations presented a check for $75,000 to Daniel Haber, MD, director of the MGH Center for Cancer Risk Analysis, for his work in breast cancer research.
