  • One family's experience with organ donation
    On Feb. 1, 1997, the lives of the Holtz family changed forever. Jane and her husband Jerry's 35-year-old daughter, Keren, was struck by a drunk driver and was declared brain dead. The Holtzes were faced with an important question –  should they donate Keren's organs?
  • MGHers gear up for Marathon Monday
    On Monday, Alicia Foley will run the toughest race of her life – the Boston Marathon. Foley is one of 45 people who have committed to finishing the Boston Marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer research at the MGH.
  • A critical need for organ donation
    According to the New England Organ Bank, only 5,400 organ donations were made in 1997. Approximately 4,000 patients died as they waited for needed donor organs.

    The New England Journal of Medicine recently began a feature on its website called "What's the Diagnosis?" – a spinoff from its regular magazine feature "Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital."
  • State senators visit MGH·Chelsea center at local high school
    MGH·Chelsea HealthCare Center had an opportunity to highlight successful community benefit programs when they led Massachusetts Sen. Thomas F. Birmingham (D-Chelsea), senate president, and Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge), senate chair of the legislature's Health Care Committee, on a tour to highlight the center's efforts in Chelsea schools.
