Mass. General West opens
in Waltham The MGH and the Massachusetts General Physician Organization (MGPO) recently opened a new facility in the western suburbs that will provide patients access to MGH primary and specialty care physicians. Located at 40 Second Ave. in Waltham off Route 128, exit 27B, Mass. General West offers the primary care services of General Medical Associates, along with specialty care in allergy, dermatology, gastroenterology, adult and pediatric neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, opthamalogy/optometry, adult and pediatric orthopædics, physical therapy, plastic surgery, podiatry, psychology, general surgery and urology. "Mass General West provides one-stop shopping for patients by offering the same high-quality care and full spectrum of services that are available at the MGH," says Greg Pauly, director of MGPO Primary Care. "We expect that this new facility will help patients obtain medial care closer to where they live and work." According to Victoria McEvoy, MD, medical director of Mass. General West, patients also can take advantage of free parking and avoid downtown traffic created by the Big Dig. Mass. General West is the result of a successful collaboration between the MGH and the MGPO, says Dan Ginsburg, MGPO president and COO. "The establishment of Mass. General West represents an important strategic step for the MGPO," he says. "It serves as a model for future off-campus development." Mass. General West is currently accepting patients and referrals.
