Teens bring Thanksgiving cheer to MGH patients

Teenagers from the MGH·Revere Teen Center brought some Thanksgiving cheer to Ellison 18 Nov. 24 as they shared the tale of Peppy the Turkey the main character of a story and coloring book they created with MGH pediatric patients.

Visiting children in the hospital is just one of the activities that teenagers can do at the MGH·Revere Teen Center, which is affiliated with and located at the MGH·Revere HealthCare Center. In addition to offering teens in the community opportunities such as volunteering, bowling and holiday parties, the program provides mental health and substance abuse services and health education programs, which address issues such as nutrition and birth control.

A group of health center staff including nurses, social workers and substance abuse counselors work with the teens to provide them with the clinical, mental and emotional services they need. In addition, the center offers a supportive environment where young people can go to relax and feel safe.

To contact the Teen Center, call (781) 284-1117 on Tuesdays, 2 to 6 pm. For information at other times, call (781) 485-6024.
