Volunteers needed for Hurricane Mitch relief

Volunteers are needed to help the victims and communities of Central America devastated by Hurricane Mitch. In Massachusetts, the American Red Cross and a coalition of other agencies have mounted a relief effort and have gathered huge amounts of food, water, medicines and other supplies. Immediate assistance is needed to help sort and pack these items to be flown to Central America. To volunteer, go to one of the following sites any day of the week, including weekends:

  • Iglesia Spiritu Santo en Accion, 404 Broadway St. (intersection of Broadway and Central), Somerville, 8 am to 10 pm
  • Old Bradlees plaza site, 1 Washington St., Taunton, 7 am to 8 pm
  • Newton City Hall, War Memorial Building, Newton, 9 am to 8 pm (bring any extra boxes)

For more information, call Paula Buick at 4-2216.
