Winners of the
Charles/MGH T station design competition chosen![]() The entries were judged on originality and quality of design; successful integration with adjacent buildings and activities; provision of a renewed sense of purpose to the public spaces; celebration of the Charles Circle area as a gateway to Boston; ease of movement for pedestrians, automobiles and trains; and limitation of train noise. These winning ideas will be considered in the ultimate design of the new station. The competition was meant as a prelude to the formal solicitation by the MBTA of design proposals for the renovation. The MGH has been working closely with the MBTA and a coalition of community groups and institutions to acquire support for renovating the station, creating better accessibility for MGH patients as well as employees, staff and the general public. |
