New teleconference room dedicated

A new cardiology teleconference room located on Blake 1 was dedicated Oct. 10 in memory of Edgar Haber, MD, the former chief of Cardiology at the MGH, who died in 1997 at the age of 65.

During the 24 years that he served as chief, Haber brought the MGH Cardiac Unit to international prominence and trained many world leaders in cardiology.

"Dr. Haber was a giant of modern molecular cardiology," says Mark Fishman, MD, chief of Cardiology. "We at the MGH owe him a great debt. I view this room as a 'cardiology chapel' in which to honor his approach to science and medicine."

The new teleconference room will allow physicians to view live images from the new cardiac catheter lab that will open in February on Blake 9. The new teleconferencing capability will be designed to offer consultations with BWH and other institutions.
