MGH charitable gift policy

Each year, the MGH receives many charitable gifts from generous supporters. With the approach of the fall season, when charitable giving traditionally increases, MGHers are asked to remember to observe the hospital's charitable gift policy.

According to the policy, all contributions should be forwarded to the MGH Development Office, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 600. For each contribution, the appropriate fund name and number should be included, along with a copy of the donor's written instructions for the gift or a signed staff memo documenting the donor's wishes for his or her contribution. The postmarked envelope in which the gift is enclosed also should be included.

The Development Office must receive and process all gifts to properly credit the donor's hospital giving record and to send an official acknowledgement letter, in compliance with IRS regulations. Gifts should not be delivered to the Cashier's Office.

For questions concerning charitable gifts, please contact the Development Office at 6-2200.
