Herman Suit, MD, portrait unveiled

The lobby of the Northeast Proton Therapy Center (NPTC) was filled with family, friends and colleagues Feb. 11 in celebration of Herman Suit, MD, former chief of MGH Radiation Oncology, and the unveiling of his portrait. The talented artists - Lucia and Warren Prosperi, who also created the painting in the Ether Dome - were present to witness the unveiling.

Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, Jay Loeffler, MD, current chief of Radiation Oncology, and Tom DeLaney, MD, medical director of the NPTC, each gave brief remarks. "Without Dr. Suit's hard work and vision, the center and the miracles that have occurred here would not be possible," said Slavin.

Suit, along with his wife Joan and the Prosperis, unveiled the portrait to the applause of the audience. "I'm extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to work at such a great facility and with great people," said Suit. "I hope this portrait represents the face of the hospital, the center and the successes we've had working together."
