  • JCAHO survey preparations begin again
    While it has only been a year and six months since the last survey by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the MGH has already begun preparations for the next review, which is expected to take place some time in 2006. JCAHO is a nonprofit organization that evaluates and accredits more than 19,000 health care organizations in the United States.
  • SAC meeting examines implications of changing scale of science
    In recent years, biomedical research has been altered by the emergence of powerful but very expensive research tools and huge multidisciplinary, multi-institutional initiatives such as the Human Genome Project. These changes already are affecting the way some MGHers are conducting research and was the focus of last week's 58th annual meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).
  • MGH and AMMP recognize Black History Month
    In recognition of February as Black History Month, members of the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) have compiled the following summary of how Black History Month came into existence, as well as little-known facts about important contributors to black history.
  • PACE project successfully completed
    After three years of planning, the PACE (Patient Administrative Cycle Enhancements) project now is completed. The overall goal of PACE, a joint project of the MGH and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO), was to make administrative operations more consistent, efficient and customer friendly.
  • Everyone can Be Fit by exercising and eating right
    Now in its third week, the Be Fit program — a pilot program designed to help employees from different departments lose weight and lead a healthier life — has helped the six teams competing lose a combined weight of 305.5 pounds.
  • MGH hosts film that inspires improved care for seniors
    The Stoeckle Center and the MGH Department of Psychiatry will co-host a special screening of the film, "Racing Against the Clock," that features five extraordinary women between the ages of 50 and 82, who have overturned the concept that age imposes limits on vitality and athleticism. The film will be shown at a special grand rounds session on March 25, from 7:30 to 9 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
