MGH
honors 2005 Pam Ellis Award recipient
Flowery tablecloths blew in the warm spring breeze
and topiary centerpieces
dotted the tables under the Bulfinch Tent as the MGH celebrated Administrative/Secretarial
Support Staff Day and recognized the recipient of the 2005 Pamela J. Ellis
Memorial Secretarial Award April 20. Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of
the MGH, Jeff Davis, senior vice president for Human Resources, and George
Baker, MD, of the Bulfinch Medical Group, each made remarks and then presented
Reina Galindo of the MGH Transplant Clinic with the award. Galindo, who
has worked at the MGH for 25 years, was nominated by all her coworkers
and is described as "a candle that burns at both ends to allow those
in between the flames to be cared for and supported."
The award, which is given annually in recognition of National Administrative
Professionals Day, was named for Pamela J. Ellis, an executive secretary
at the MGH who died in October 1996 at the age of 31. The $1,000 award
was established in 1997 to honor employees who exhibit similar qualities
in their work as Ellis.

From left, Davis, Baker and Slavin congratulate Galindo.
