5K Run for Asthma
In observance of World Asthma Day, the third-annual MGH 5K Run for Asthma will be held May 7 to help benefit and raise awareness of asthma research at the MGH. Clinical Pastoral Education Program Fellowship
Through funding from the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center and the MGH Department of Nursing, fellowships are available for the MGH 2005 Clinical Pastoral Education Program for Health Care Providers. The program is open to individuals from any discipline who work directly with patients and/or families in a health care setting and who wish to integrate spiritual caregiving skills into their professional practice. Six Kenneth B. Schwartz Fellowships in Pastoral Care will be awarded to caregivers from disciplines other than pastoral care. Two Spiritual Caregiver Fellowships are available to MGH registered nurses who are in direct caregiver roles and have a minimum of two years experience. The program is part-time with a negotiable start date. Group sessions will be held Mondays, from 9 am to 5 pm. Additional hours will be negotiated for the clinical component. Smoking cessation group
The Employee Assistance Program will sponsor a seven-week smoking cessation group facilitated by the MGH Quit Smoking Service. The first session will meet May 4, from noon to 1 pm, in Founders Conference Room 121. The program includes preparation for quitting, low-cost nicotine patch, nicotine gum, stress management techniques, preventing weight gain and tips for living without cigarettes. The cost is $70 for the full seven-week program. To register, call (617) 726-7443.

Summer Backup Childcare program
The MGH Backup Childcare Center's summer program will be held July 5 to Aug. 19. Planned daily activities will include science explorations, clay and modeling experiences, cooking at the center and trips around Boston. Registration for the entire summer will begin May 15. Nursing Career Expo
MGH Patient Care Services Human Resources will host an Acute Care/Critical Care Nursing Career Expo April 26, from 2 to 6 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. Learn about and interview for staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist and nurse manager opportunities. A panel discussion about the Project HOPE mission will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the Walcott Conference rooms. For more information, send e-mail to SHWelch@partners.org.
