MGH to host
health care disparities conference
Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, and members of the MGH Committee
on Racial and Ethnic Disparities invite all employees and staff to attend
the Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care Conference June 27, from
noon to 1 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The conference will feature the
viewing of "Worlds Apart" a documentary film that captures the
experiences of a group of diverse patients with chronic medical conditions
as they face the cross-cultural challenges of today's health care environment.
Robert Phillips, a kidney transplant recipient who was featured in the
documentary, will join a panel discussion after the film, along with Win
Williams, MD, director of the MGH Interventional Nephrology and Transplant
Unit and director of the MGH Multicultural Affairs Office, and Angelleen
Peters-Lewis, RN, PhD (c), nurse manager for the MGH Gastrointestinal
Endoscopy Unit. The event is co-sponsored by Patient Care Services, the
Community Benefit program, the Multicultural Affairs Office, the Association
of Multicultural Members of Partners and the Massachusetts General Physicians
Organization.
