Chelsea helps kids keep safe this summer
The MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center wants children to stay safe this summer,
so to help educate the community about safety issues, the center hosted
its annual Family Summer Safety Fair and Bike Rodeo June 18 in conjunction
with the Chelsea River Revels/Chelsea Green Space 5K Road Race. The center
hosted safety check stations for bikes and helmets to ensure that each
child has the appropriately sized bike and wears the proper helmet. Volunteers
also taught hand signals. The CHIP — child ID — program took
dental images, fingerprints and videos of more than 160 children for parents
to keep on record.
In addition, families were able to learn about home, water, fire, sun
and car safety tips as well as partake in face painting activities, a
hula-hoop contest and four bike raffles. Special visits were made by Geoffrey
the Giraffe and McGruff the Crime Dog.

Helmets are properly sized and fitted to each child's head.
