Step
by step: Bigelow 11 marathon
The second annual Bigelow 11 marathon recently was held, and staff members
clocked more than 1,000 miles by tracking the distance that they walked
at work over the course of the month. Each participant used a personal
pedometer to document mileage, and donations poured in from colleagues,
friends and family members. The unit collectively raised $800 for the
Durant Fellowship, which provides funding for an MGH clinician to assist
in the prevention and treatment of disease among refugees throughout the
world.
“We all continue to be inspired by the work of the fellowship and
feel strongly about continuing to show our support as a unit,” said
Eileen Flaherty, RN, nurse manager for Bigelow 11. Staff nurses Melissa
Roddie, RN, Allyson Maslowski, RN, and Margaret Driscoll, RN, coordinated
the event.
