MGH celebrates successful CPM projects

MGHers gathered in the East Garden Dining Room Oct. 17 to celebrate the success and progress of the Clinical Performance Management (CPM) teams. CPM is a joint MGH and Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) initiative designed to improve patient care and increase efficiency in delivering care. Nineteen posters describing campaigns focusing on quality and safety initiatives throughout the hospital were on display, and six were awarded prizes. Posters were judged by Edward P. Lawrence, Esq., chairman of the MGH Board of Trustees; George Thibault, MD, vice president of Partners Clinical Affairs; and Thomas Lee, MD, president of Partners Community HealthCare, Inc., in three categories: "generalizable" (the project idea is transferable to other clinical areas and institutions), high reliability and creativity.

"These posters are a tremendous demonstration of the teamwork that goes
on at the hospital," said Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH. "From physicians to nurses to physical therapists and all the others who have worked on these projects, they show that it truly takes a village to make the hospital run efficiently."
