In General Chulmin Joo, of the MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine Graduate Student Program, won the Hatsopoulos Prize from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The award recognizes original research leading to a patentable invention or innovation. Joo, in collaboration with Johannes de Boer, PhD, also of the Wellman Center, has developed a fiber-optic-based, low-coherence interferometer capable of real-time detection of ultra-low concentrations of molecules. Greg Koski, MD, PhD, of the MGH Institute for Health Policy, will serve as associate editor of the new quarterly journal The Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics. The first issue will be published in March 2006. Henry J. Mankin, MD, of the MGH Orthopædic Oncology Service, was awarded the Dr. Marian Ropes Award by the Massachusetts Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, given in recognition of excellence in arthritis care and leadership in the fight against arthritis. |
