EAP holiday resource tables
The MGH Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) will host a holiday resource table Dec. 14,
from 2 to 3:30 pm in the WACC lobby and Dec. 15, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm
at CNY 149 in the Atrium Lobby. The EAP will provide suggestions on how
to manage stress, set realistic goals, take better care of oneself and

Patient safety conference
Kaiser Permanente along with CRICO and the Risk Management Foundation
of the Harvard Medical Institutions will host a patient safety conference
“Seize the Moment: Reaching Excellence in Patient Safety”
Feb. 6 and 7, at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. CME credits are available.

Northeastern nursing courses
Beginning the week of Jan. 9, Northeastern University will offer at the
MGH the spring semester nursing courses Health Care Systems and
Advanced Pathophysiology. An information session will be held
Dec. 19, from 1 to 4 pm in the Main Corridor. Those interested in special
student status should bring to the session a current state nursing license,
a sealed envelope with college transcript and a $50 registration fee.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program
The Association
of Multicultural Members of Partners and MGH Human Resources will
co-host a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program Jan. 13, at 8 am in the
East Garden Room. The guest speaker will be Milton J. Little, Jr., president
and chief executive officer of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. For

Smoking cessation programs
The MGH Quit
Smoking Service will offer evening and afternoon smoking cessation
programs beginning in January. The evening program will start Jan. 4 at
5:30 pm, and the afternoon program will start Jan. 12 at 2 pm. The weekly
seven-session program will include information about preparing to quit,
coping with stress without cigarettes,
preventing weight gain and tips for not smoking again. Low-cost nicotine
patches and/or nicotine gum will be available for participants with written
approval from their primary care physicians. For more information, call

MGH holiday parties
Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH, will host the annual holiday
parties Dec. 14, from 2 to 3:30 pm in the WACC lobby and from 10 pm to
midnight in the Main Lobby by Coffee Central, and Dec. 15, from 12:30
to 1:30 pm at CNY, Building 149 Lobby. All employees are welcome to celebrate
the season with refreshments, music and holiday cheer.
