Daily exercise helps Be Fitters stay healthy

A group of Be Fit "survivors" braved the cold weather and took to the streets Dec. 1 to participate in the daily "Be Fit Survivor Walk," in a commitment to remain dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and exercise program. Each afternoon at 12:15 pm, the walkers — former participants of the MGH's Be Fit program — meet the day's two leaders at the Jackson entrance of the hospital for a 20-minute walk. "One of the big things that we try to do with the Be Fit program is show people that they can fit exercise into their daily routines," says Erin Marley of The Clubs at Charles River Park. "The daily walk is great because it's only a 20-minute commitment, and people find it's sometimes easier to fit that into their day than a visit to the gym." An indoor route will be added for the winter months, and all MGH employees are welcome to join. To learn more about the walk or the Be Fit program, send e-mail to BeFit@partners.org.
