• It's the most wonderful time of the year...
  The hallways of the MGH were filled with holiday cheer as the hospital celebrated the season at three annual holiday parties hosted by Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH.

• Puppy Pals deliver
  While Santa Claus and his elves are busy tuning up the sleigh, putting the final touches on countless toys and preparing the reindeer for their Christmas Eve journey, they took some time out of their hectic schedules Dec. 13 to deliver special gifts to young patients on Ellison 17 and 18, at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology unit, and at the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center.

• Joy to the world ... MGHers celebrate holidays across the globe
  The holidays are celebrated in many ways around the world, and MGHers had the opportunity to travel the globe to learn about these traditions Dec. 15 in the Main Corridor at the annual "Holidays Around the World" celebration, hosted by the Patient Care Services Diversity Steering Committee.

• The greatest gift of all: MGHers help earthquake victims
  In a season of generous gifts and joyful celebrations, the greatest gift of all can be found in charitable acts of kindness toward those who are most in need. And there are many in desperate need across the globe, especially in South Asia, where thousands of survivors of the devastating October earthquake in Pakistan now are struggling to survive the winter months.

• The spirit of giving
  During this time of year, many religious holidays are celebrated with a gift-giving tradition. In the spirit of the giving season, MGHers recently donated toys and presents to families served by the hospital's HAVEN (Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) program.

• Santa's stockings make children smile
  In an effort to make as many sick children as possible happy this holiday season, MGH Orthopædics teamed up with Radiology to create more than 50 stuffed stockings for patients in the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology unit and at the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center.

• Over the river and through the woods
  It may be easy to get to grandma's house but some MGH employees, volunteers, patients and visitors have found it difficult to make their way through the snow and rain from the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care to the main campus. Here are a few tips for the weary traveler.

• All I want for Christmas ...
  With visions of sugar plums and hopes for a visit from St. Nick, young patients of MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit and the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center have received special treats during their appointments.
