Starbright spreads holiday cheer tonight
Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation — dedicated to brightening
the lives of seriously ill and hospitalized children and their families
— brought joy and smiles to MassGeneral Hospital for Children by
sponsoring two special visits this holiday season.
Stephanie Sokolove, restaurant owner and executive chef of Stephanie's
on
Newbury St., shared her talents Dec. 9 with patients on Ellison 17 and
18 and helped decorate holiday cookies. Sokolove came with snowflake,
gingerbread and tree cookies with different toppings, including frosting,
sprinkles and candies. A magician and a face painter accompanied Sokolove
to entertain the patients.
Teddy
bears also brightened the hospital stays of children during the holidays
courtesy of the Teddy Bear Delivery Program. Lauren Fox, a 13-year-old
fundraiser, raised more than $1,000 from donors sponsoring new teddy bears.
While most of the teddy bears are shipped directly from the foundation
to hospitals throughout New England, Lauren made a special delivery to
the MGH Dec. 21. She arrived at the hospital, teddy bears in tow in a
Radio Flyer wagon and handed them out to young inpatients.
